Carefree summer has come and gone and now it’s time to get organized for back to school.
We know how busy this time can be with clothes shopping and purchasing school supplies all while maintaining your daily work and life.
Here are a few tips to help you stay organized as you get back into the groove of the school season.
Staging Area
If you have an area in your home that you can turn into a mud room with a bench or chairs, cubbies for shoes, and hooks for backpacks, jackets, etc., this is a great way to get ready and out the door in the mornings. This helps keep all the necessities in one place so they are easy to find and put on right before walking out the door.
Homework
A designated area where the kids have pencils, a sharpener, and other supplies needed, can help them learn about keeping an organized space for focusing on their homework and saves you from searching for that random item they need.
Calendar
Whether you use a wall calendar and note important dates, or an online calendar such as Google’s with reminder notifications, this will be a life saver for those half days, parent teacher conferences, classroom parties and more that could otherwise slip your mind.
Snacks
Make sure to keep healthy snacks on hand like rice cakes, veggie sticks, granola bars, yogurt and similar items to hold hungry kids over between school and dinner.
Plan some fun
Getting back into the school routine can take a toll on kids and parents. Remember to schedule some fun outings or special treats (like going out for ice cream) to celebrate everyone’s hard work.
