Simple and Easy Holiday Decor

When it’s time to enjoy the most wonderful time of the year, decorating the home is one of the most important parts of celebrating the season. There are a number of ways to transform the space and create a holiday wonderland indoors for a place to create new memories family and friends. See our tips below on simple decor ideas.

Create a Color Scheme

Many color combinations signify the holiday season – green and red, gold and silver, red and gold, blue and silver, white and gold. The options are really endless. Select 2 – 3 colors you’d like to use for your overall holiday theme. This will help keep things focused when you shop for accent pieces and create and overall coordinated look throughout your home.

Dress Up a Focal Point

Select a focal point, such as a mantel, or entry way table. Decorate by placing fresh or faux garland on the mantle for a festive touch (and a great scent in the case of real garland). You can also place berries and ornaments in the garland for added color. The garland should be accompanied with other decor pieces. Many stores have beautiful and reasonable decor items such as wood, metal or ceramic trees, reindeer, stars and more. Selecting a few key pieces will keep the cost reasonable and make decorating easy.

Center Pieces

Create a great centerpiece for the coffee table or dining table. You can use fresh flowers in a low vase, or use a bowl – such as a large wooden salad bowl, clear glass cylinder bowl, or decorative iron bowl or basket. Fill with pinecones, colorful glass vase filler, or decorative spheres from stores such as Pier 1. Hurricane candle holders can also make a great center piece.

Scent

Keep a favorite room spray on hand, or a plug-in air freshener in a festive scent. This keeps things smelling fresh and can add the scent of the holidays with little effort. It’s also a quick fix for when company comes over unexpectedly!

Wreath

Nothing says “Welcome” quite like a pretty wreath on the door. Weather you choose a faux wreath that can be used year after year, or a fresh wreath, this brightens the entry to your home and adds wonderful curb appeal.

Lights

Lights on the house always look beautiful, but if that’s more than you can take on, consider some colorful lights along the walk way, or solar walkway lights and tree spotlights powered by the sun. These require minimal effort to install and can add ambience to your yard during evening hours.

We hope these holiday decorating tips give you some ideas on creating your own holiday wonderland this season.

Happy Holidays!
